EAE was one of 10 Scottish companies to be granted a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2014 and the only Scottish company to be granted an Award in the Sustainable Development category. The Award recognises EAE’s championing of sustainable development and its commitment to sustainable business operations through the introduction of innovative practices such as:

  • Installing a wind turbine to produce electricity for our headquarters.
  • Replacing the diesel van fleet with electric vehicles and vans that run on bio-diesel made from recycled waste oils.
  • Developing a Biodiversity Garden at their headquarters.
  • Adopting a Carbon Management Plan to deliver carbon neutrality across all their operations by 2015.

The official Charter of Award and a commemorative glass bowl were presented to EAE on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen by Sir Robert Clerk, Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian. Sir Robert kindly agreed to make the presentation in front of EAE staff and invited guests at their headquarters in Loanhead.
